Ancrum Youth Club to Re-start

Ancrum Youth Club will be holding its first meeting on Thursday 21st May from 6.30 - 8pm in the village hall. Any children P5 to 1st yrs from the Ancrum catchment area will be most welcome to come along and join in the fun. "In Days Gone By"

I have just received a photo of Ancrum Old Parish Church and Graveyard from Karen Richardson in Alberta, Canada, whose husband's ancestors are interred in Ancrum Graveyard. They were James and Elinor Hogg who lived at Old Belses. Their son, Alexander emigrated to Canada and the following generations still stay near Elnora in Alberta. The police warned to be aware of bogus workmen, pretending to be plumbers, at "work" in the area. The recent traffic count in the village showed that over 40% of the vehicles were travelling above the speed limit and the police will be carrying out random speed checks.
